Capital Dynamics, a global private asset management firm, sold a 27.5 MW onshore wind portfolio to Alpha Real Capital.
This move formalised the firm’s exit from Capital Dynamics Clean Energy and Infrastructure III LP (CEI III), the platform’s first European-only renewables fund.
Capital Dynamics primarily focuses on private assets, including private equity (primaries, secondaries and co-investments), private credit, and clean energy.
Capital Dynamics’ Clean Energy platform started purchasing greenfield assets for CEI III in 2015 and since then has overseen their development and operations. Netri Energy, Capital Dynamics’ dedicated asset management affiliate, provided asset management services for the portfolio during construction and operations.
“The sale was an extremely successful outcome for our investors, as well as proof-of-concept for our value-add investment strategy in Europe in general,” said Barney Coles, co-head of clean energy at Capital Dynamics. “The UK continues to be one of the most attractive and supportive markets globally for investment in new renewable energy capacity. We remain focused on our mission to provide investors with attractive and environmentally sustainable returns.”
EY served as the transaction’s financial advisor and TLT represented Capital Dynamics on legal matters. DNV offered technical guidance on the transaction.
Capital Dynamics has been making direct investments in clean energy projects in Europe since 2013 and owns and operates over 30 projects with a total installed capacity of over 1GW.
Capital Dynamics, headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, employs around 160 professionals globally across 14 offices in Europe, the Middle East, North America, and Asia. The firm managed over $14 billion in assets and advisement as of third quarter in 2022.
Alpha Real Capital is a real assets investment manager with offices in London, Frankfurt and Madrid.
