CVC Capital Partners and Hartenberg Holding-backed FutureLife announced on Tuesday that it has acquired the Centre for Reproductive and Genetic Health (CRGH).

FutureLife is a European provider of IVF and related genetics services, headquartered in Prague. CRGH is one of the largest IVF clinics in London, performing more than 3,200 egg collections per year.

Luxembourg-headquartered CVC made a co-controlling investment in FutureLife earlier this year via its fund CVC Capital Partners VIII. Hartenberg Holding has been invested in FutureLife since 2013. FutureLife has completed 23 acquisitions since the initial investment.

CVC is a global alternative investment manager that invests across private equity, secondaries and credit. Its private equity platform manages €85 billion of assets and employs four strategies: Europe/Americas, Asia, strategic opportunities and growth.

“We are delighted that CRGH has chosen to partner with FutureLife,” said Cathrin Petty, managing partner at CVC. “This continues to deliver our strategy to build out the first-class FutureLife platform into new markets. The CRGH team are world-renowned for their clinical and scientific excellence and we will continue to invest behind them.”

Hartenberg is a Prague-based investment firm that focuses on assets in Central Europe, primarily Czechia, Slovakia and Poland. It is a long-term investor in companies across healthcare, e-commerce, FMCG and real estate. Its portfolio exceeds €600 million.

“The partnership with CRGH is another important milestone in FutureLife’s growth story in becoming a European leader in IVF,” said Jozef Janov, managing partner at Hartenberg. “It will bring us additional know-how, clinical experience and excellence in the care provided to patients throughout our clinics. It is also the first acquisition that we are completing with our new partners from CVC. Together with management, we remain focused on further acquisitions in the fragmented UK market.”

FutureLife has been expanding its footprint in a number of key European geographies, including the UK, since the investment from CVC. It has a presence in the UK through London-based City Fertility.

“This partnership gives us the foundation to build on the success of CRGH in the UK as part of the FutureLife family,” said Jonathon Lawrence, who will lead the combined operations of CRGH and City Fertility as FutureLife’s UK CEO. “I look forward to leading this new joint venture through a period of strong, sustained growth.”
