ECI-backed CSL cops Caburn Telecom

The acquisition adds further IoT expertise and scale to CSL’s propositions and services.

ECI Partners-backed CSL, a provider of IoT connectivity, announced on Monday it has bought Caburn Telecom, a global provider of secure IoT connectivity, SIM management and software. The purchase of Caburn will add further IoT expertise and scale to CSL’s propositions and services.

Wigan, England-based Caburn was founded in 2011. The company has over 1 million live IoT connections across a variety of sectors serving customers in the UK, Europe, US and Asia. Caburn has a proprietary platform that enables customers to manage and monitor their entire SIM base.

“We look forward to supporting the combined group to continue to build on its strong growth since our investment, both organically and through further M&A,” said Paul McCreadie, partner at ECI.

ECI has been invested in Watford-based CSL since August 2020.

ECI is a London-based private equity firm that invests in growth businesses valued up to £300 million ($347 million; €346 million). Since its inception, it has completed 267 investments across 11 private equity funds.
