Enterprise Investors-backed Studenac bags Strahinjčica

Studenac, backed by Enterprise Investors, has acquired Strahinjčica, a retail chain. No financial details of the transaction have been disclosed.

Strahinjčica is based in Zagorje, Croatia.

Studenac, with this acquisition, will add 47 locations, taking its network to over 1,100 outlets as it continues growing both organically and through takeovers, according to a release.

The transaction adds 200 staff to Studenac’s existing employees of over 5,700.

“Studenac continues its business strategy of growth and development, and by taking over Strahinjčica we have also strengthened our position in central and northern Croatia,” said Michal Seńczuk, Studenac board president.

Enterprise Investors acquired Studenac in 2018, investing over €260 million in the retailer and its expansion both organically and via acquisitions.

Studenac’s investment in Strahinjčica follows acquisitions in 2022 that expanded the chain by 343 stores.

Studenac plans to open 120 new locations this year and is targeting a market share of 10 percent, the release said.

Studenac is a grocery chain with almost 1100 stores. The company is based in Omiš, Croatia.
