Motive Partners announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire embedded/capital, a European venture capital platform.
Berlin-based embedded/capital is an early-stage VC platform focused on fintech innovation. According to Motive, embedded/capital represents Motive’s integrated model, combining investors, operators and innovators.
Motive Partners launched Motive Ventures in December 2021, having formed a strategic relationship with Apollo Global Management. To date, Motive Ventures has invested in five companies.
The combination of embedded/capital’s team with the Motive Ventures team brings together “top talent” from across the industry, according to Motive. The combined team, consisting of 14 people, will to seek to capitalise on the market dynamics and growing opportunity ahead as new financial technologies and business models emerge “at pace”.
“This acquisition not only adds depth and capability to our team, but provides critical strategic benefits to the rest of the firm, including innovation insights and learning, attracting top talent and enhanced sourcing networks,” said Blythe Masters, founding partner at Motive Partners.
Motive Partners is a New York-based firm that invests in technology enabled financial and business services in North America and Europe.
