Sandberg Capital acquires coding bootcamp Green Fox Academy

Sandberg Capital is a Slovakian private equity firm that focuses on small and medium-sized enterprises in Slovakia and the CEE region.

  • Green Fox Academy offers junior developer and Salesforce specialist courses
  • The acquisition represents Sandberg’s first direct investment in Hungary
  • Green Fox entered the Czech market in 2018 and is also active in Slovakia

Sandberg Capital announced the acquisition of Green Fox Academy, via its Sandberg Investment Fund II. Green Fox is a Hungarian coding bootcamp that also operates in Slovakia and Czechia.

Budapest-headquartered Green Fox offers a series of online and on-campus classes people who want to start a career in IT. The company also tailors curricula and academies for corporate clients.

As part of the acquisition, the founders remain part of Green Fox’s management, with Kristof Bárdos as CEO, Peter Langmár as board chair and Barbara Barath as general manager.

While Green Fox is Sandberg’s first direct investment in Hungary, it is the firm’s third in the education sector.

“With the ever-present push for digitisation, basic IT skills are becoming essential across variety of industries,” said Jakub Krajčovič, investment manager at Sandberg Capital. “The traditional education system is, unfortunately, unable to fulfil such demand. We believe that together with Green Fox, we will be able to support the digitisation trend in the CEE region.”

Sandberg Capital is a Bratislava, Slovakia-based private equity firm that focuses on small and medium-sized enterprises in Slovakia and the CEE region in the sectors of IT, telecommunications, agriculture, education and retail.
