Thoma Bravo-backed ABC Fitness Solutions buys Glofox

The purchase significantly expands ABC’s global reach.

  • Glofox and ABC collectively will support more than 24,000 fitness locations

Thoma Bravo-backed ABC Fitness Solutions on Tuesday announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to buy Glofox. Dublin-headquartered Glofox was founded by former professional rugby player Conor O’Loughlin and is a fitness management platform that services boutique gyms and studios. It is used in over 80 companies and the combination of ABC and Glofox will see them support more than 24,000 fitness locations.

Chicago-headquartered Thoma Bravo is a private equity firm that looks to invest in software and technology companies. To date it has completed nearly 400 transactions and has assets under management of $114 billion as of March 31. It acquired Sherwood, Arizona-headquartered ABC in 2018. ABC provides software and related services for the health and fitness industry.

Glofox is one of several acquisitions ABC has made in the sector, joining Trainerize, GymSales and FitnessBI.
